About The Artist
Wayne was born in Nova Scotia, Canada in 1948. He has lived in Ontario, Nova Scotia, France and Alberta. He currently lives in Edmonton, Alberta with his wife and muse, Eileen. He has three wonderful, adult daughters, two beautiful granddaughters and a handsome grandson.
He started painting as a hobby in his late teens. Recently, he has been a full time artist for more than 21 years. Prior to focusing full time on art, he was a Professional Engineer for more than 26 years.
He started painting in oils in 1966 but fell in love with the acrylic medium in 2003. Most paintings are created with acrylic paints on stretched canvas. Many recent paintings are richly textured, acrylic mixed media on stretched canvas.
He is also an avid photogragher and loves to create digital art. Photograghy and computer graphics provide a creative source for many of his paintings.
He has taken many art courses through the years. These include courses on drawing, watercolors, acrylics, portraiture, landscapes, picture framing and computer enhancement of photos. Instructors were Frank Haddock, Kathryn Hines, Izabella Orzelski-Konikowski, Cindy Barratt, Penny Eliuk, Catherine Marchard and others. Wayne has studied more than one hundred art and art instruction books.
Wayne has written a book on a collection of captivating, true short stories. The name of the book is "Really, Granddad?". Click for details. His granddaughter inspired him to take it on with her constant, "Granddad, please tell me another story."
